WA Innovator Awards 2016 Announced
Robotic Bricklayer Fastbrick Robotics won the WA innovator awards for 2016, with its prototype bricklaying machine, the ‘Hadrian X’.
The West Australian reported the machine is “transported on the back of a small truck and lays bricks to replicate a 3D-designed plan”.
Other category winners included Furry Dice for their InstaTruck application, UWA and Subsea Engineering Associates.
Now in it’s tenth year, the WA Innovator of the Year Awards (IOTY) program showcases innovative people and businesses, to promote WA as a front runner in entrepreneurial creativity.
Innovation Minister Bill Marmion told The West that the awards were an integral part of developing WA’s technology sector.
Chair of the IOTY Advisory Committee, Professor Lyn Beazley, said “the program has shone a spotlight on marvellous innovations in areas as diverse as the resources sector, human health, water, energy, communication, agriculture, education and the environment”.
